If you haven’t tried the new, stylish cellar door and dining spaces at Brokenwood, you most certainly have to make this a priority next time you’re in the Hunter Valley. The new space is very sleek and stylish with a mix of black and rich timbers creating a vast, relaxed dining experience.
We visited Brokenwood’s Cru Bar & Pantry for a midweek lunch. The menu offers all day brunch, great pizzas, gourmet pies and other café favourites. Our choice of the menu was the Avocado, Serrano jamon crumpet with hazelnuts and rocket, the pizza special of delicious suckling pig with fresh local figs, even topped here and there with a sprinkling of crunchy crackling. And lastly, the Rueben filled with Wagyu corned beef, Emmenthal, sauerkraut, Russian mayo and pickles, a tasty toastie that didn’t disappoint.
What’s a lunch out without a sweet treat to finish? On offer, as you order is a neatly stacked batch of salted caramel filled donuts coated in sugar, just the perfect size and oh, so yum!
With fast friendly service and brand new modern surrounds, it’s a pretty impressive step up for one of the Hunter’s most well known wineries. Get there and enjoy!
